GAVAN McCORMACK is Professor of Japanese History at the Research School of Pacific Studies, ANU. He is the author of a number of books including The Japanese Trajectory.

 HANK NELSON is a Senior Fellow in the same school and the author of a number of books including Prisoners of War: Australians Under Nippon.
