Sai Aung Tun
is a native of Shan State. He graduated from the University of Yangon with honors in history, and earned an MA degree in International Relations from the University of Denver. He became the principal of Myitkyina College in 1972 and of the Institute of Foreign Languages in 1980. He currently teaches history and international relations at various colleges and universities in Myanmar and is a member of the Myanmar Historical Commission. He has witnessed many political changes in Myanmar, especially the constitutional crisis in 1962 followed by the coup d’etat. Among his many articles on the Shan people, “The Migration of the Shan” and “A Classical Love Story of Hkun Sam Law and Nang Oo Peim” are the most popular.
